Carrot Top hospitalized, forced to cancel weekend performances

Carrot Top has been hospitalized in Las Vegas, Fox News Digital can confirm.

The comedian, whose real name is Scott Thompson, has a standing show at Luxor Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. His regular shows on Friday and Saturday have been canceled.

"Mr. Thompson is recovering in the hospital and is receiving the care and support he needs," Thompson's representative told Fox News Digital. "His family and those closest to him are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers and respectfully ask for privacy."

When reached by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, a spokesperson for MGM Resorts said, "Scott is a beloved member of the Luxor and MGM Resorts family, and we are relieved to hear that he is recovering. We are thinking of him and wish him strength as he receives the care and support he needs."

The outlet also reported that Thompson was seen at a bar in town around 2 p.m. on Friday, hours before his show was set to begin at 8 p.m.

As of now, tickets for his shows next week are still available for purchase.

Thompson has had a historic run in Las Vegas, performing his comedy in a residency at Luxor since 2005. His current contract has him at the venue through 2030.

During a 2025 appearance on Joe Rogan's podcast, Thompson spoke about the "great advantage" of having the Las Vegas residency: no constant travel.

"I'm home at 10:30, 11:00 at the latest," he said, adding that "You can have a normal day. I had a dog for a bit, you can take a dog, you can then go to work, come home, you're watching SportsCenter at 10:30, in bed by 11:00."

They also spoke about Thompson's specific brand of comedy, with Rogan telling him, "You became so successful as a prop comic, you kind of stole the market. There's no young [prop] comics coming up."

Thompson laughed, "Because nobody wants to be a Carrot Top, I think. I think that's what it is. You know how much s— I still get?"

Rogan said it doesn't seem like he gets as much criticism as he used to in the earlier days of his fame, which Thompson agreed with.

"You still get the aftermath of it," Thompson admitted. "Like just on the plane today, some guy was like ... 'I don't care what everybody else says, you're funny.' I'm like, 'Who's everybody else?' I get that a lot, all the people like, 'Hey, I personally think you're funny,' that kind of stuff."
